Tidelow
Your world fades quickly-sand through my fingers
gold to grey
grey to black
technicolored sailboat swells larger than my mind
the sand castle crumbles, dissolves into salty moat
but I couldn't live there any more anyway
the rooms were full of people
and I was lonely
Sampson is dead
ten years ago he was a pouncy kitten
now he's a glassy-eyed stiff under white plastic
weighted by round stones.
steps sorrow-filled along my chosen path
I loathe the sand
sometimes the grey is tinged with gold
frightening me
solace now in grey, in black
my apathy, your atrophy:
you aren't even real any more.
Forgive me for losing youquicksand drowns your cries.
