The Virgin Birth myth stems from Chapter 7, Verse 14 in the
Book of Isaiah. The story begins after the death of King
Solomon, which led to a split between the Northern and
Southern kingdoms of Israel.
King Ahaz, who was the king over Southern Israel (called the
Kingdom of Judah} is worried sick about his kingdom. It is
at war with the Northern kingdom, who had entered into a
military alliance with the Kingdom of Syria in order to join
forces to destroy Judah.
Desiring to calm the fears of King Ahaz, God sends the
prophet Isaiah to let Ahaz know God is going to give him a
sign to let him know He is going to intervene at a certain
time and conquer Ahaz’s enemies.

“Ask yourself a sign from the Lord, your God: ask it either in
the depths, or in the heights above.= And Ahaz said,
