Jesus: Messiah or Myth? - Book - Page 23
I was a newspaper and magazine journalist for over 20
years and let me tell you, I learned very quickly in my career
about the importance of fact-checking. Even a small error of
misinformation can get you fired, especially if the publication
you are writing for gets taken to court over it.
I suppose back in biblical times, no one much cared
about this sort of thing, as only the most educated people of
society had the skills to read and write. Perhaps that’s the
reason the anonymous writers of Matthew, Mark, Luke and
John got away with shamelessly contradicting each other’s
stories.
As you are about to see, the contradictions in the
four gospels are numerous and in my opinion should be
taken very seriously by people following the Christian faith.
Obviously, these scribes never compared notes and since
their identities were hidden, there was no one to hold
accountable. Nice job, guys.
Let’s take a look at some of the most egregious of
these conflicting scriptures:
WHO’S JOSEPEH’S DADDY?
Matthew says: “Jacob, the father of Joseph the husband of
Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.”
Luke says: “Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about
thirty years of age, being the son of Joseph, the son
of Heli.” Luke 3:23
