Jesus: Messiah or Myth? - Book - Page 47
I find his advice to be a perfect analogy to describe
people who profess to be followers of Jesus the peacemaker
but show their viciousness when you don’t agree with them.
I’m not going to say Christians have cornered the
market on hypocrisy but I have sure seen a lot of that in the
church. But hey, why not go around sinning when you
believe you can do whatever you want to because Jesus
already paid the price?
Life becomes a dangerous game when humans adopt a
standard of morality that frees them from being personally
responsible for their every thought and deed. God certainly
didn’t set it up to be that way yet the fantasies persist.
It’s pretty much guaranteed the cult of
Christianity will continue to attract more followers looking
for a warm and fuzzy way to find community and connection
to something greater than themselves. They will hear the
message about Jesus loving them unconditionally and
without even attempting to verify it’s the truth, will jump
headlong into the faith and drink the Kool-Aid it serves up
down to the very last drop.
Meanwhile, an extremely small number of religious
Jews (0.2% worldwide) will continue worshiping the One,
True God, and the world’s only Savior, in truth and
righteousness seeking to reflect Him in everything they think,
say and do.
