Jesus: Messiah or Myth? - Book - Page 5
Mark 10:18, when a man calls him Good Teacher and asks
how he can attain eternal life, Jesus said this:
“Why do you call me good? No One is good except God
alone.”
Intuitively, I knew that God was really the One I should
be communicating with, so I put my full attention on
Him. After years of focused prayer, study, journaling and
research, I began to see a very different story than the one
the New Testament tells.
For starters, I realized the concept of Hell was merely a
hoax used to coerce people into accepting a false ideology by
threatening them with eternal damnation if they did not
comply.
I also no longer bought into the rapture story and the
whole “Second Coming of Jesus” fable after letting these
words of Jesus sink in for a while:
“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not
taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in
his kingdom.” Matthew 16:28
Clearly, everyone died back then and Jesus never
returned. So it was pretty much a no-brainer to wake up to
the fact this was a false statement.
Although I was uncovering discrepancies in the New
Testament right and left, I didn’t dare share them with
anyone, especially my late husband Steve, who wasn’t a
person you’d want to argue with about this kind of thing.
