WALKING IN CYPRUS
The island’s nature trails criss-cross
the land and are renowned for varying
landscapes, spectacular views and
stunning flora and fauna. Whether you
take a stroll or a more serious stomp, you
won’t be disappointed.
There are plenty of local walks and
wonderful trails to discover in the
mountains, this year's featured walk is
right on our doorstep:
Feature Walk: Genesis Aphrodite’s Trail
Start Point: Prolimnos Dog Beach
End Point: 28 Octovriou Street, Pine Bay,
Pissouri Village
Time: 1hr 20 (linear)
Peak: 172m
Length: 4.5 km - linear
Points of interest: Pissouri White Cliffs,
Horses Farm, Olive field, amazing sea
views
Start either at the Prolimnos Dog Beach
(about 5 minutes’ drive from Aphrodite
Hills) or at 28 Octovriou Street of
Pine Bay in Pissouri, both points have
parking available and a large sign which
shows a map of the walk at the starting
point. This is a pretty straight forward
walk, with not too much difficulty or
incline faced.
Follow the path along the route and be
on the lookout for these signs as some
can be easily missed (some are in the
form of a log on the ground with a small
arrow).
It is best to walk this trail during dry
weather as the terrain can get quite
slippery and muddy when wet.
The white cliffs of Cape Aspro (meaning
'white cape') are breathtaking, and one
of the most beautiful landscapes on the
island. Panoramic sea views are on offer
for the full duration.
There are some small paths at the side
of the hillsides which you can come
off slightly to explore the plateaus and
enjoy some incredible views of the
Mediterranean and Aphrodite’s Rock.
If you start at Prolimnos Dog Beach
then you can stop off at Pissouri Village
Square and enjoy a rewarding meal - we
recommend O'Vrakas Tavern (the owner
is an expert on the nature trails in the
village).
Guided walking tours can be
arranged for this trail in the winter
season, subject to availability; call
Haris on 99 312 443.
