our workshops. Instead, we bring you memory provoking digitised images
of some of the items from the archive. We share voices from the collected
oral histories and trace some of the history through additional photographs
and newspapers. We also share some of the skills we learnt during the
project as we drew upon expertise from archivists, mentors, a designer, and
an editor.
In Print in Thanet we celebrate the importance of print and printing to
businesses, visitors and the printing community that lived and worked in
Thanet. Unrecognised, their skilled work continues to influence our daily
lives, way beyond the limitations of an island. We invite and encourage
further connections across time and generations to engage with the past to
benefit us all in the future. It is Appletye’s pleasure to present the archive
and these stories together through this publication, Print in Thanet. ◊
