had their fan club magazines printed in Thanet. In 1982 and in response
to the technological changes to printing processes that brought faster
and different ways to print, The Thanet Press cleared out their letterpress

people were made
redundant all together
but about 80 people in
total were left afterwards.
It was quite devastating
at the time. It all changed
after that – we had to be
flexible in all departments,
so we had to be trained to
do everything.”
