building was divided to take account of the steps of the print process.
Heavy machinery had its own machine room, with two floors of offices above
which show a flow between the different print processes, and to and from
the printing presses.
The photographs from the archive show the amount of space required
to accommodate the many cabinets of drawers of the lead letters or type
in the 1930s, and then the more modern layouts showing different types of
reproduction equipment, office furniture combined with older style
drawing boards. ◊
