PARMER
EYE
CARE
FAMILIAR FACES TO PROTECT YOUR EYES
I’m Dr. Sundra Lemanski, optometrist and owner of Parmer Eye Care. I grew
up in Georgetown, where my dad has been practicing optometry for almost
50 years and still counting! My husband and I met at Georgetown High
School and have been together ever since. He studied engineering at UT
while I was in optometry school at the University of Houston, and we now
have two beautiful daughters, one at A&M and one now a freshman at UT.
Parmer Eye Care is a locally-owned private practice.
After graduation from optometry school in 1995, I worked
for the previous owner, when
it was located at Parmer and
Mopac. In 2010, we moved to
our current location at Parmer and Neenah/Lakeline Blvd.
where we have continued to
grow and improve the service
we provide to the community.
Our staff is our greatest asset.
You will most likely see the
same faces year after year
when you come in. Office
manager Garin Wootton has
been with the company for

over 20 years. He is an experienced optician and works
hard to make every patient
happy and satisfied with their
experience at Parmer Eye
Care. Tanya Martin is another
20-plus-year member of the
Parmer Eye Care family, and
Wendy Ahmed and Belen Rodriguez have each been with
us over a decade. The younger
members of our staff keep
the energy high, still providing extensive knowledge and
experience in the optical and
ophthalmic medical field.
Dr. Geesala Garvin has been
seeing patients at Parmer Eye
Care for several years, but she
became one of our full-time
optometrists in the fall of
2018. We are very fortunate to
have her knowledge, experience, and excellence in providing superior patient care in
our office!
As an Austin-based business,
a lot of our patients are in the
tech industry. We understand
the need for precise vision
correction (after all, I’m married to an engineer) whether
using glasses, contacts or
Lasik. We help patients find
solutions for difficulties
related to computer use or
dry eyes, which may not have
been offered by their previous
eye doctors.
I have often been told, “This is
the most thorough eye exam
I’ve ever had!” Along with all
of our patients in the tech industry come their families. We
are happy to see kids as young
as 5 and recommend eye
exams every year for schoolaged children. The school
screening or even the pediatrician’s eye test is just that: a
screening. It won’t necessarily
catch everything a complete
eye health exam will.
If I had to say what I enjoy most
about optometry the answer
would be twofold. I love solving
problems for patients that they
haven’t been able to solve by
visiting other providers. Secondly, I love catching and fixing
a problem before the patient
even realized its significance.
Whether the problem is with
computer vision syndrome, dry
eyes or a brain tumor (yes, that
happened) proactive treatment
is always best.
Suggesting computer glasses is often a complete game
changer for patients who are
working with screens and
devices for more than an
hour at a time daily. I use the
analogy of running shoes. You
may have comfortable shoes
that you wear to work, but if
you were going to start even
a modest running program,
say 30 minutes three times a
week, you would probably buy
yourself a good pair of running
shoes. That’s for something
you do an hour and a half a
week. Computer glasses are
like running shoes for your
eyes. Think about how helpful
it would be to have a pair of
glasses specifically made for
that activity!
Speaking of game changers, Parmer Eye Care now
has an extremely effective
in-office treatment for
dry eyes called Lipiflow.
After years of having only
things like eye drops, warm
compresses and nutritional
supplements with which to
treat dry eyes, we are seeing
amazing results in patients
even a year after having this
incredible one-time treatment. If you or someone you
know has struggled with dry
eyes, please let us help you!

and Neenah.
