The Challenges in the Development of Quantity Surveying
Profession in Thailand
The Quantity Surveying profession was introduced into Thailand by
way of foreign investment and international JV projects. Demand for
impartial transparency and establishment of standard protocols and
processes was met by the influx of quantity surveyors from all over
the globe. Local developers and investors began to recognisethe value
of quantity surveyors and thus the role became embedded as a key
component in the construction industry. Of course, this has not been
without its fair share of challenges in the past, present as well as what
can be expected for its future.

The purpose of this presentation is to provide an introduction to the
key aspects of the Thailand construction market and how the quantity
surveying profession fits in, including the adaptation of its role and
services tomeet local industry norms and the devastating effects of the
AQSA 2022
