Challenges and Opportunities of
QS Program in Indonesian Higher Education
The Quantity Surveying (QS) program in Indonesian Higher Education is now
20 years old (2002 – 2022). However, since it was established at Universitas
Bung Hatta, Padang, West Sumatera Indonesia, there has not been a higher
education institution running the same program, neither for Diploma level nor
Bachelor degree.
Although the recognition of the industry has received over 15 years, the term of
Quantity Surveying is not considered as a core discipline existing in the body of
knowledge structure. The process of QS educational framework and approach
to convince the national education regulator is one of the greatest challenges. As
the largest construction market in South East Asia, there is a big opportunity to
promote and spread the QS programin formal education in Indonesia.
