Welcome Remarks by Organizing Chairman
Assalamualaikum wrh. and warm greetings from AQSA
On behalf of AQSA we would like to welcome to all participants of this
event! Thank you for your time and effort to join this conference and we
really appreciate it and your attendance is very meaningful to us.
First and foremost, we would to extend our special thanks and gratitude to
ASEAN Secretariat, CIDB, UTMSPACE and MATRADE for supporting
this event especially to YBhg. Dato Lim Jock Hai and YBhg. Datuk Ir.
Ahmad Asri’ Abdul Hamid for agreeing to be the Keynote Speakers of the
conference.
Special thanks also given to all the speakers, the panellists and the moderators of the panel discussion.
We would to thanks the AQSA organising committee members and staff for worked so hard to make this
event a success! Last but not least we would like to thanks the media who covering this event and many
others which I may not able to mention it here who have given their full co-operation to AQSA in organising
this event.
Among the objectives of today’s conference is to provide a platform for discussion on many issues related to
collaboration and cooperation with ASEAN member countries for AQSA to initially promote the profession
to countries that do not recognized QS as a profession such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.
AQSA has encouraged the formation of the AQSA chapter in those countries, Thailand for example, through
the AQSA committee member that representing Thailand, has succeeded to form an association of QS
consultants and in the process getting the government approval. Certainly, this is a move on right direction
for Thailand to form an AQSA chapter and AQSA also has representatives in other ASEAN countries and
will try our level best to provide assistances and persuade them to follow the footsteps of Thailand, to
form the association and the AQSA chapter in their countries. Meantime, AQSA with the assistances of
MATRADE and CIDB will assist the Malaysian QS firms to collaborate with the local firms in those
countries to offer QS services and other forms of co-operations.
Hopefully the end of the conference, we can come up with the resolutions that will help AQSA to move
forwards and plan our future activities.
