Reframing for Growth and Building
for a Better AEC Business Communities Post Pandemic
Generally, ASEAN services sector represent 36.9 percent of ASEAN Gross
Domestic products and USD250 billion in 2020. In 2003, ASEAN leaders
agree to buil-on the momentum in gained in AFTA and other efforts to
broaden and deepen regional cooperation. Through Bali Concord II, ASEAN
leaders committed to maximize opportunities for mutually beneficial
regional integration and declared the ASEAN Economic Community
(AEC) as on of the three pillars of the ASEAN Community, the two other
being Political-Security Community and Social-Cultural Community.
ASEAN Community has agreed that collaboration is important for
improving construction practices and that it is has many benefits for
AEC. Hence, quantity surveyors is one of the important services sector in engineering and construction
projects. Since 1995 ASEAN Community create cross border services and movement of the services
amongs professional practices in ASEAN countries. In the context of post pandemic recovery process,
ASEAN Community need to adapt the changes of the economy and business practices. To realize, ASEAN
connectivity, construction industry stakeholders need to strengthen the following key thrusts:
• To maintain relationship and collaboration in creating business opportunities across the region.
• To promote development of ASEAN best practices using internet technology and digital solution.
• Collaborate with relevant agencies to set common standard and skills for QS education and
standardization of curriculum and professional training module.
