“Diversity” Fun Pack Launch & Engagement Session for National Day Parade 2023
We congratulate student Song Yang whose selected artwork was
incorporated into one of this year’s NDP Fun Pack designs.
In February this year, Song Yang attended a series of art workshops
to design the National Day Parade (NDP) Fun pack 2023 in a group
collaboration with students from other social organisations and
Special Education (SPED) Schools.
Song Yang thoroughly enjoyed the sessions as he met up and
interacted with students from other schools. In line with this year’s
NDP Theme “Onward as One”, the group worked together to
come up with a design signifying Diversity, where each drawing was
pieced together to form a map of Singapore. Song Yang drew the
Marina Bay Sands building and the Supertree Grove from Gardens
by the Bay, as these were places he enjoyed exploring with his
family.
On 15 June, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Heng Swee Keat
met with all the artists in an engagement session to extend his
appreciation for their creative works. Song Yang met and spoke
with DPM Heng Swee Keat during the engagement session, and
even mustered up the courage to ask him for a photo, despite his
nerves at the start of the event. Song Yang spoke to DPM Heng
about the inspiration behind his design.
Song Yang’s artist profile and artwork inspiration were also featured
in the Book of Stories, curated by SG Enable together with the
NDP Committee.

There was media coverage of the event during which Song Yang
appeared briefly in one of the news clips - an exciting moment
for him and his family! Song Yang was also interviewed by Lianhe
Zaobao newspaper for the Fun pack project. Congratulations Song
Yang! We are very proud of you.
