FUND-RAISING & DONATIONS
Cookies for a Cause
The famous political leader, Mahatma
Gandhi once said, “The best way to find
yourself is to lose yourself in the service of
others.” Gandhi’s words never rang truer
for one such individual who constantly
finds joy in helping others as she believes
that by rendering help, she too gains new
experiences and values.

In May 2021, the Association received
kindness from Bakesbyivaa, a self-initiated
baking project started by Ms Iva Idris, a
JC2 student currently studying in Raffles
Institution. Bakesbyivaa made donations
toward the Eden Care Fund through the
sale of her chocolate chip cookies. The
Eden Care Fund helps to defray the cost
of programme fees and other relevant
expenses for financially disadvantaged
clients and students, as well as their families.
Ms Idris initiated this project with the main
intention of helping those in the community
who are undergoing challenges. After 4
weeks of baking and fund-raising, Ms Idris
accumulated $1,000 to give to the Eden
Care Fund via the highly popular online
donation portal, Giving.sg. Although her
help was rendered indirectly, she still hopes
that the money collected will be helpful to
those receiving aid from the Fund.
Ms Idris will be continuing with her bake
sales after completing her A Levels in
December 2021 and orders can then
be taken through her Instagram @
bakesbyivaa! The Association is grateful to
Ms Idris for her kind efforts and generosity
in positively impacting the lives of those
who need our support.

Making Mothers’ Day with Mediacorp
As part of Mediacorp’s corporate socially
responsible initiative to commemorate
Mother’s Day in May this year, the company
roped in the public to help bring a smile
and say thank you to mums out there. Gift
sets, which consisted of health supplements
such as bottled bird’s nest and vitamin
C tablets, as well as skincare products
and toiletries, were made available to the
public to purchase at $18 each through
Mediacorp’s official e-commerce platform
Staff from Eden Children’s Centre ready to
distribute the gift sets to beneficiaries’ families.
One of Singapore’s largest media
conglomerates, Mediacorp, has outdone
themselves yet again, this time for putting
smiles on the faces of our beneficiaries’
mums! In June 2021, the Association
became a grateful charity beneficiary for
their “Adopt a Mother’s Day Gift Set”
To drum up publicity and awareness for
this initiative, Mediacorp ran commercials
over television and radio airtime. The
media giant also created an eye-catching
landing page, aptly titled “This Mother’s
Day, Make Mum Smile!”. The public was
encouraged to purchase the gift sets via
the page, which would then be delivered to
beneficiary families caring for persons with
disabilities at home.
Mediacorp’s Mother’s Day drive was a
terrific success, with the Association
receiving approximately 487 gift packs.
Staff from Eden Children’s Centre, Eden
School and Eden Centre for Adults were
delighted to welcome the many happy faces
from the families of clients who received
their gift packs in July this year. For many,
it came as an unexpected but pleasant
surprise in light of the Heightened Alert
measures which everyone had to undergo
during this challenging period.
The Association would like to express our
sincerest appreciation to Mediacorp for
their kindness in donating these gifts to the
families of our clients and students!
