ACTIVITIES & VOLUNTEERISM
President’s Visit to Eden Centre for Adults (Clementi)
On 29 January 2020, Eden Centre for Adults (ECFA) (Clementi)
had the honour of receiving President Halimah Yacob. The ECFA
serves clients with moderate to severe autism, and the President
was heartened to see our efforts in supporting our clients through
a suite of training and learning and the creation of individualised
programmes. These include the teaching of vocational skills such
as leather stitching and laser cutting, as well as the teaching of soft
skills and communication.
Mdm President viewed a video presentation of the centre’s
programme, and Mr Ho Swee Huat, the Chairman of Autism
Association (Singapore) (AA(S)), gave an opening address.
President Halimah then toured the premises, viewing various
activities in ECFA (Clementi) while accompanied by Mr Ho, AA(S)
Vice Chairman Mr Jamil Amin, and AA(S) Board member Ms Denise
Phua. The President expressed her hope that more organisations
would support the empowerment of individuals with autism, so
that they are able to lead meaningful and dignified lives.
