Vantage Point’s
Monterey Place:
Home is Where
the Heart Is
By Margit B. Weisgal, Contributing Writer
P
atti Hutton, Director of Sales & Marketing, at Residences at Vantage
Point www.vantagepointresidences.org in downtown Columbia, Maryland,
recently spoke with The Sun about Monterey Place, its unique “neighbor-
hood” that combines assisted living with memory care and focuses on those with
Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments.
What makes Monterey Place special
is “Heartfelt Connections®, a unique program with approaches provided by creative
and compassionate teams to deliver the
Signature Experience. It includes activities and programs that support a sense of
purpose, satisfaction, dignity, and quality
of life for residents at Vantage Point. We
also provide vital support and education to
team members and family care partners.
Our Heartfelt Connections® team carries out
our promise of creating opportunities for a
purposeful life filled with rich experiences for
those living with memory loss.”
“When you are taking care of others,”
Hutton added, “their wants and needs are
ahead of yours. We look at what is required
beyond the medical aspect, to celebrate
them for doing what they can today, and
not put any emphasis on what they can no
longer do. It’s about abilities, not disabilities.
That’s how we make them feel cared for and
part of our community.”
