lean and disinfect high-touch surfaces
in your home and other environments
frequently.
In general, the more people you interact with,
the more closely you interact with them, and the
longer you interact with them, the higher your
risk of getting and spreading COVID-19. This is
true even with family and close friends. Many
people have become sick with COVID-19 after
attending gatherings with family and friends
because they were not taking precautions.
However, interacting with family and friends
is important for our mental health. Reduce
your chances of getting COVID-19 by avoiding
higher-risk gatherings and planning lower-risk
alternatives:
•Create virtual get-togethers.
•Hold events outdoors.
• If it’s not possible to visit outdoors, make
sure the room is well-ventilated with open
windows and doors, and large enough for
social distancing.
•M
ake sure people from different
households stay more than 6 feet apart.
•Plan activities that allow for social
distancing.
•Wear a mask and ask others to wear a
mask over their mouth and nose. This is
especially important when you are indoors
or if it is hard to stay 6 feet apart while
outdoors.
•Keep a list of who attended any gathering.
This will help with contact tracing if
someone becomes sick.
•Avoid large group gatherings, especially
indoors.
•Avoid eating while talking with others. Or
try to stay 6 feet away while eating. And
make sure to wash your hands before and
after meals.
It may be hard to follow some of the guidelines,
but these steps are important to protect
yourself and your loved ones as well as slow the
spread of COVID-19 in our community.
The Health Department is working closely with
many community partners to ask all county
residents to help move #CarrollForward
together; learn more about what you can do at
