Providing Essential Services To Our Families Across Howard County
Columbia Community Care would like to extend a HUGE thank you to
our community for honoring us with Best of Howard County Volunteer
Organization for the THIRD year in a row! Columbia Community
Care was founded in March of 2020 to address the exacerbated
hardships and inequities in Howard County due to the pandemic. A
group that started with about 40 members over the last several years
has grown to well over 8000 Facebook members, 8 in-person site
coordinators who oversee distribution of essential resources at CCC’s
sites across the county, 2 delivery pantry coordinators who oversee
and operate CCC’s home delivery service, hundreds of monthly
volunteers, including dozens of community organizations, dozens of
community partners, and thousands of consistent donors. CCC has
served hundreds of thousands of residents of Howard County and
have completed over 15,000 home deliveries of full grocery orders
for those who lack transportation or otherwise cannot get to the inperson sites.
Columbia Community Care has done an incredible job at providing
essential resources to our community for almost three years now.
However, we know that we must address the systems and institutions
that create the injustices and inequalities that exist for so many of
our families across Howard County. The needs of our community
are broad and extensive. This is why we have expanded our mission
beyond essential resources. The Mission of Columbia Community
Care is to provide resources, services, and programs to students
and families in Howard County, under 4 Pillars: Liberation Education,
Health & Healing, Purpose Pathways, and Essential Resources.
Our intention is to build relationships, cultivate & develop social and
collective power, promote knowledge of self & history, and build
economic independence & generational wealth.
As designated 501(c)(3) non-profit, Columbia Community Care is
dedicated to providing opportunities for our community members that
will shift the current power dynamic and address systemic inequities.
CCC is leveraging existing partnerships and relationships with
organizations and individuals to provide holistic programming around
its four Pillars in alignment with our core values of Restorative Justice,
Liberation and Freedom, Healing & Peace, Joy, Community Care
& Mutual Aid, Human Dignity, Collective Power. A calendar of our
programs are listed on our website https://columbiacommunitycare.
