“It’s Life Changing!”
Peripheral Neuropathy pain is what initially
brought Bill to AIM Maryland.
Bill hoped to be able to keep up with
his wife Joan.
“She walks so fast, I want to keep up with
her on the golf course.” Joan nodded in
agreement. They had been married for 60
years, and were looking forward to enjoying
their golden years together on the golf course.
Peripheral Neuropathy kept Bill from feeling his
feet, and he worried about losing his balance
and falling. Walking the golf course was too
much for him.
The pain in his feet kept him awake at night,
and the prickly feeling and numbness advanced
up his legs. Biomedical doctors told him that
he had a progressive disease. They gave him
Gabapentin and told him he just had to learn
to ‘live with the pain’. Because of the numbness
in his feet, he could no longer feel his car’s gas
pedal and he had to stop driving.
Along with constant pain, lack of sleep,
and loss of independence, Bill grieved his
retirement dream of golfing with his wife.
When he started at AIM Maryland, Bill’s wife
and daughter took turns driving him to his
treatments. Bill started to notice more feeling
in his feet and less pain in his legs. His leg
swelling had decreased, and he was sleeping
through the night.
Bill had his independence back, and his wife
had her partner back on the golf course.
Peripheral Neuropathy is the pain, discomfort,
and numbness caused by nerve damage of the
peripheral nervous system. Unfortunately Bill’s
story is all too familiar for over 3 million people in
the U.S. suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy.
Bill’s family was excited about his progress, and
they gave him their blessing to drive himself to
his acupuncture appointments. Soon after that,
Bill and Joan were entering golf tournaments
together again.
We create success stories like this regularly for
patients who have chronic conditions. Whether
it’s wanting to play golf or pickle ball, playing
more with kids or grandkids, or simply more
independence, we help our patients live their
best life, with less pain and more joy.
Treatments gave Bill more than increased
walking mobility, more than ease from pain,
and more than uninterrupted sleep.
