Baltimore sports fans love their teams

“S
ports is like a religion in Baltimore,” says Jeff Katzen, owner of Baltimore Sports
and Novelty in Owings Mills. “Baltimoreans love their sports.”
With the popularity of the Ravens, who are winners year after year, and the
longevity of the Orioles franchise in Baltimore, sports fans proudly wear their team logos
on their chests, in the form of shirts, jerseys, hoodies and more. Many also decorate their
homes and yards in support of their favorite teams.
This year, stores are offering a variety of sports related merchandise perfect for holiday
gift giving.
“Every team and town think they have the best fans, but Ravens fans are definitely
into it,” says Michael Tyson, owner of Poor Boy’s Sports in Dundalk. “We have socks to
ties to bumper stickers, car mats and steering wheel covers, and they make great gifts.”
The pandemic has presented challenges for many retailers and sports stores are no
different. Katzen suggests shopping early this year for the best selection. Items shown
