To our readers
Welcome to Baltimore Sun Media’s 13th
annual Top Workplaces.
We’re doing something a little different
with this year’s Top Workplaces magazine.
Inspired by the success of this season’s
young Orioles team, we wanted to recognize the top rookies of
this year’s Top Workplaces survey.
These are the employers who keep Top Workplaces fresh — the new
faces who show up to
topple the established
order.
Dinsmore
The largest Top Workplaces might be familiar:
Cummings & Co. Realtors as usual with
the RK&K engineering firm close on their
heels. But newcomer Richcroft, a human
services nonprofit, appeared high on the
list.
Midsize Top Workplaces always sees
some turnover, but all of the top 10 are
regulars on The Baltimore Sun’s list. Octo,
a government technology arm of IBM,
popped in for the first time at lucky No. 13.
But the rookies really shined in the small
Top Workplaces, sweeping the first three
positions, led by the technology consultancy Set of X, which helps some of the
region’s government agencies with hushhush work.
For Top Workplaces, The Sun again
worked with Energage, an employee
research and consulting firm based in Philadelphia. Energage strives to help firms
create places where people want to work
and collaborates with many news organizations on similar projects.
Thanks to those who participated this
year, and we invite those who didn’t to take
part next year.
Christopher Dinsmore is The Baltimore
Sun’s director of content for news and
development.
