“My favorite outdoor summer activity
is going to the beach. It tells such a
story and the water has a way of
speaking to my soul. The water is so
peaceful yet so complex,
a little like my life. The
joy and laughter of
children playing without
a care in the world. The
waves speak of the ups
and downs of life. The
stillness speaks of calmness. The ocean
reminds me of eternity, never ending.”

“My favorite outdoor summer activity
would have to be going to parks and
trails, and cookouts with
family and friends. It is
extremely important to
connect with nature.
When I go to these parks
and trails, I’m looking to
see where we have fallen
short and where we can improve the
quality of our communities. Anything
that connects me to the soil and the
land I live in, I will do it.”
“Being on the water is my favorite
outdoor summer activity. I love being
on the bay and creeks, anchoring the
boat so I can dive and
swim in the water. Water
access is important to
me because Black
people have history
there. As a Black man, I
know it’s important that
we are seen enjoying ourselves in
water, fishing, crabbing and
swimming. I always bring family and
friends out on the water during the
summer.”
