Whoof on Wharf lets you roam with rover
A year after Bonnie McLeod opened Whoof on the Wharf
in Edgewater to provide a chance for pet lovers to kayak
with their pup, the business is expanding and adding a
summer camp for kids 8-14.
McLeod started renting kayaks from Pier 7 Marina last
summer, along with special gear to help pet owners go on
the water with their dogs. Visitors could rent gear for themselves and a pet, then spend time on the South River or
quiet Warehouse Creek.
When it got too cold to kayak, McLeod brought her experience as a clay relief artist into the business, offering paint
with a pup nights.
“Friendly, well-behaved dogs are always welcome at
those events,” McLeod said.
Seeing the success of that art program, McLeod wanted
to hire more workers this summer, add a camp and fill out
the Whoof on the Wharf operation. The camp will start in
late June and feature art, kayaking and some dog training.
After moving to a different area of the Pier 7 Marina,
