In October we held our 昀椀rst annual Bat Sta昀昀 Apprecia}on Party for our wonderful team.
These ladies bring so much compassion, fun and dedica}on to their work every single
day. We would be lost without them! Everyone received a personalized envelope created by Assistant Director Natalie. Inside were hand-wri琀琀en statements from their coworkers on how much they were appreciated. Then came wonderful plant-based food
and lastly, a rane with ba琀琀y givs donated to our sta昀昀 by a local contributor. For more
informa}on on our bat caregivers visit our sta昀昀 page at batworld.org.

Every year, more and more fruit bats are needing rescue
from laboratory research, irresponsible zoos that allow
over-breeding, and the cruel exo}c pet trade. Oven}mes,
bats in the north must wait un}l the weather warms to
be sent to our facility in Texas. Over }me, we fear we may
become oversaturated with fruit bat rescues. The best
solu}on is to provide rescued fruit bats a sanctuary in the
north, much like Bat World Sanctuary. Therefore, we
partnered with the Pennsylvania Bat Rescue to build a
昀氀ight area for rescued fruit bats in the Northeast. Over the years, PA Bat Rescue has acted
as a way-sta}on for fruit bats while they prepare for their trip to us in Texas, like beau}ful
Sarah, pictured here. With the construc}on of a 昀氀ight area speci昀椀cally for rescued fruit
bats, they will be capable of o昀昀ering permanent sanctuary to non-na}ve bats in need, following our guidelines. On North Texas Giving Day we raised $25,000 toward this project.
