The golden rule to moving is to plan, plan and plan again, there are few
things in life that are as stressful as packing up, moving out, moving in and
unpacking again, and generally these are all done within a few days.

So here are some tips to help:
Moving out
If you are using a removals company
get quotes from at least 3 different
companies and book them at least 6
weeks in advance.
Moving out is the perfect time to declutter – so why not have a clear out
and get rid of all your unwanted items.
Organise plenty of strong boxes, bubble
wrap, packing tape and labels.
Reduce perishable items in your fridge
and freezer, and use this an opportunity
to defrost your appliances.
If you have pets- work out where they are
going on moving day – are they staying
with family – they will not appreciate
being involved in moving day.
Make arrangements with Royal Mail
to have your mail re-directed to your
new address.

Moving in
Prior to moving in day – confirm key
collection arrangements.
Organise snacks and beverages for
those helping with the move. Well
planned breaks can be a real boost
amidst a hectic moving day.
Label rooms that the items being brought
into, making sure that the items are put
into the correct area – also have an area
to place non-allocated items and boxes.
Prioritise your bedding arrangements
– you’ll be thankful you did after a
good nights sleep and a day ahead
of unpacking.
Take meter readings for all the
connected services for your reference.
Introduce yourself to the neighbours,
always nice to do this on ‘moving in
day’ to break the ice.
