'Last Saturday’ Demonstration on 29th August 2020
Dromore, County Down ~ Order of the Day
1. INTRODUCTION: The annual Last Saturday Demonstration for 2020 is scheduled to be held (D.V.) on Saturday
29th August in Dromore, County Down.
2. AIM: The aim of this Order is to give concise instructions for the day and to facilitate District Chapters the
time to instigate their forward planning for this Demonstration.
3. GENERAL OUTLINE: Again this year the City Grand Chapter will be operating a five-phase plan with complete
instructions being issued to each District and Preceptory within this Demonstration Booklet.
4. PHASE 1: Move to Bussing Area: The City Grand Chapter and RBDC No. 3 will depart from Sandy Row Orange
Hall at 9:00 am sharp. All other Districts will select a time suitable however you must give enough time for
bussing, travelling & de-bussing as the entire District is in Dromore at the assembly point no later than 10.45am.
PHASE 2: Move to Dromore: All bus routes are mandatory. District Chapters will depart from the bussing
areas at a time arranged by them promptly; this is important as any delay will have an inevitable roll on effect.
PHASE 3: Arrival in Dromore: On arrival at Dromore Orange Hall, Hillsborough Road all Sir Knights and
Bands’ personnel are to debus immediately and move directly to the Drumhead Service, to be held in the Orange
Hall. Buses will then move off to the finish point at Ferris Park for Lunch pick-up. Those buses not being used for
lunch will be moved to a suitable parking place and will be in position for pick up following the conclusion of the
return parade.
Drumhead Service: The Service will commence at 11:00 am and all Sir Knights on the day of demonstration are to
attend this Service and partake as their conscience dictates, W/Sir Knight Philip Agnew of RBP 112 (No 1 RBDC)
will bring the .. 'Thought for the Day.'
PHASE 4: The Procession: This will commence immediately after the Service in the following Order of March.
Assemble: City Grand Chapter followed by Districts 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 1 & 2 will form up outside Dromore Orange Hall.
Route: The Parade will proceed along the route as per the corresponding map included within this Annual Booklet
to Ferris Park and then onto their buses. The City Grand Chapter will be stopped just before the entrance to the
park and compliments are to be observed with bands being encouraged to continue to play. Those not boarding for
buses are welcome to parade into the field and fall out.
LUNCH BUSES TO RETURN TO THE SAME POINT AS THEY DROPPED OFF. LUNCH BUSES TO BE RE-PARKED
BY 3:00 PM WITHOUT FAIL PLEASE AND WILL PROCEED TO HILLSBOROUGH RD FOR PICK UP LATER.
Re-assemble: All Districts will re-assemble at 3:15 pm in Ferris Park to move off at 3:30 pm sharp, in the
following order – City Grand Chapter then RBDC Nos. 3 : 4: 5, 6. 7, 1 & 21.
PHASE 5: Departure from Dromore: Buses will proceed from and along the Hillsborough Road to the City and
the various debussing points as per each District arrangement.
5. NOTES: Read carefully and comply as appropriate.
(a) A short Act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial in Market Square (right hand side).
(b) Compliments are to be observed whilst passing the Memorial, i.e. headgear removed; all colours lowered and
music ceased.
(c) The instructions from the Police Service and Marshals must be obeyed.
6. BUS ROUTE CARDS: - These MUST be organised by the individual District Masters and issued to the Drivers
along with the Bus Marking Cards taken from the Routes supplied to all Preceptorys.
7. DISCIPLINE: - All Sir Knights will be aware of problems at some previous Demonstrations that are being
monitored by the PSNI and Parades Commission. There is to be no re-occurrence of these under pain of possible
