LEADING OUR DEMONSTRATION DAY PROCESSION ON THE 'LAST SATURDAY
IN AUGUST' ~ NO 3 ROYAL BLACK DISTRICT CHAPTER, SANDY ROW
Undoubtedly the following decorous tribute by our City Grand Master, Right
Worshipful Sir Knight Billy Elliott, to one of the District Chapter's stalwarts,
Worshipful Sir Knight Ronald Brown, who was called to everlasting peace
at the end of last year, will also be a laudation to all those Sir Knights
past and present, who have each given faithful service during the 135
years of No 3 RBDC's encampment within the global embrace of the
Imperial Grand Black Chapter of the British Commonwealth, since 1885.
THE LATE WOR SIR KNIGHT RONALD (RONNIE) BROWN
AFTER A LIFETIME OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE
ROYAL BLACK AND LOYAL ORANGE INSTITUTIONS,
WORSHIPFUL SIR KNIGHT RONNIE BROWN JOINED WITH
HIS SAVIOUR AND LORD IN THE HEAVENLY GRAND
ORDERS ON 25TH DECEMBER 2019.
Sir Knight
Brown
served the Royal Black
Institution with distinction
for seventy years through
the officerships as a Past Imperial
Deputy Grand Lecturer, whilst also being a
member of the Imperial Grand Black
Chapter's, Irish Lecturing Examination Board
for nineteen of those years.
As Past City Grand Lecturer and Deputy
City Grand Lecturer within the City of
Belfast Grand Black Chapter, Sir Knight
Ronnie also held the posts of Past
Worshipful District Master, Past District
Lecturer and a variety of many other
District Offices throughout a period of
thirty-five years within No. 3 Royal Black
District Chapter, as well as being Sandy
Row Past Master and Past Registrar of
Burning Bush RBP No 1197 and a PM and
former Treasurer of both Great Northern
True Blues LOL and RAPC 964.
Worshipful Sir Knight Ronnie Brown was
highly respected and well known throughout
the Royal Black Institution and as a prolific
Lecturer he was acknowledged as one, if the
best ever, in his vocation.
A total perfectionist, whether he was
personally conferring Degrees, Tutoring other
Sir Knights or in his duties as a member of the
Examining Board, Ronnie readily impressed to
all Lecturers, when conferring the various
degrees of our Institution, to do so in strict
accordance with the code, even down to the
smallest detail or the shortest word.
His fastidious and meticulous minute
taking and record keeping, both as a
Registrar and in his Treasurer duties,
remain legendary.
A Committed Christian, Ronnie was an
Ordained Ruling Elder of the Presbyterian
Church having served on the Kirk Session of
Great Victoria Street for fifty-one years.
He was both a past Congregational
Committee Secretary and Convenor of the
Freewill Offering Recording Committee, as
well as a member of the church choir.
But above all Ronnie was a devoted
family man, a loving and caring husband to
his wife Mena, during their sixty-seven
years of happy marriage, an adoring father
to his daughters Shirley and Sandra and
his son Sir Knight Robert (Bobby), as well
as to his sons-in-law and daughter-in-law,
and to his adoring grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
To each and every one of Ronnie's
grieving Family, within the City of
Belfast Grand Black Chapter and on
their combined behalf I would extend
our sincere Christian sympathy in the
prayerful knowledge that each will know
the Peace of God and His Infinite Grace
to sustain and strengthen them in their
days of sorrow. Sir Knight William Elliot CGM
