Ci t y of Belf ast Grand Bl ack Chapt er - Dem onst rat i on Bookl et 2020
When one looks around the many war
cemeteries, cenotaphs and memorials
dotted across the globe; or to view the
upright, proud white granite headstones
erected throughout those silent graveyards
including here in the four corners of the
United Kingdom; or to visit the National
Memorial Arboretum at Staffordshire
(below) or stand silently underneath the
Menin Gate Arches at Ypres (left), or the
impressive monument at Thiepval and then
run your fingers across the millions of
engraved names of the dead and missing,
many with no known grave; then don't
pretend that a tear hasn't fallen from your
eyes and down your cheeks, or the hairs
haven't stood out on the back of your neck;
or that you have not quietly and reverently
saluted those who gave their all for your
freedom; for our freedom and never, ever
believe that we should forget; for we will
not forget, not now not ever.
FOR WE WILL REMEMBER, ALWAYS!!
