HOLIDAY DRINKING TIPS
Drink in moderation. Standard drinking sizes include 12 ounces
of beer, 5 ounces of wine, and 1.5 ounces of hard liquor. Ideally,
women and men should drink no more than 3 and 4 alcoholic
drinks per week, respectively.
Pay attention to the type of alcohol. For instance, a 12-ounce
bottle of light beer supplies an average of 110 calories and less
than 5 grams of carb. Most 5-ounce servings of wine contain 80
calories and less than 2 grams of carb.
Reduce or avoid sugary cocktail mixes and sodas. Offer flavor by
adding a splash of water and squirt of lime or lemon juice. Fresh
fruits and no or low-calorie drinks are good options, too.
Eat a balanced meal before or while drinking to slow down the
absorption of alcohol. Also, drink water with all alcoholic
beverages to help keep the body hydrated and lower the risk of
over drinking.
Do not let one night out sacrifice and tarnish all the efforts you
have made to move forward! Hydrate as soon as you wake up
and get right back on track.
Truly acknowledge and enjoy not only the beverage of choice,
but the holiday vibes with loved ones!
