Supported Internship
Success
Our Supported Internship course has
been designed for individuals who have
learning difficulties and/or disabilities
and want to develop the employability
skills needed for the world of work.
During this high-quality programme,
students have the opportunity to
complete three work placements
with different local employers
where they will gain a wide range
of transferable skills.
He then attended a Kickstart Jobs Fair with
a job coach in February, where he learned
about a Junior Content Writer position at the
same organisation. He applied for the role by
completing a written task and attending an
interview. The employer was impressed by the
task submitted and offered him the role. He
now works there three and a half days a week.
Joel told us:
“As part of my Supported Internship
course, I found jobs to apply for,
prepared my CV and received
support from my job coaches. Over
time, I have developed all types of
skills that will help me succeed in
places like Seek Social. I have really
enjoyed working here.”
Paula Braiden, Director of Creative and Media
at Seek Social, added:
JOEL BRUTY
Joel, 21, a former pupil of Woodhey High
School, took on a work placement at Seek
Social through his Supported Internship
course. As part of the Internship, he was
supported by a job coach when on work
placement.
“Joel has been a fantastic addition
to our team here at Seek Social and
has been keen to learn things since
his work placement. It didn’t take
long for Joel to settle in - he has
improved a lot within his first month
and it feels like he has been part of
our team for a long time!”
