Student Portal
You will have access to the online student portal, an area which provides information on attendance records
and timetables. It also provides access to the MyVLE system, where important information on the course,
assessments, and course notes and resources are stored. This is especially helpful, as it means you can easily
carry on with your work at home. You will also have access to our Higher Education Information Exchange, this
will form the main communication channel between the University Centre and students. Here you will be able
to keep up-to-date with important news and announcements. You will also find useful information on
our Student Support services including Additional Learning Support and the Counselling and Wellbeing Team.
Additional Pastoral Support
As a Bury College University Centre student you will be entitled to:
•
Additional Learning Support - Bury College University Centre welcomes students with disabilities
and/or additional support requirements and will make every effort to support their needs. We have
contacts with local and national external bodies concerned with inclusion, disability awareness and
disability provision. Advice is provided by the Additional Learning Support (ALS) team on an individual,
strictly confidential basis.
•
Support from a dedicated Wellbeing and Counselling Service is available to help you with any issues
such as stress, anxiety, personal relationships, gender identity, or general health and wellbeing.
•
Our pastoral support team is on-hand to assist with student behaviour, performance and personal
issues. They also work to ensure that students receive appropriate support and that facilities and services
meet their needs. They are always willing to answer questions and discuss issues.
•
You will also be assigned a personal tutor that will support you on your higher education journey.
Information, Advice, and Guidance
You can also access the services of a dedicated Careers Guidance Advisor, who can advise you
on your future progression, utilise links with job centres and careers services, help you with your
CV, and stage mock interviews.
