Air Safari - Flipbook - Page 2
Welcome
In the past few years I have travelled in Otago, Fiordland and Southland quite extensively with
our small group tours. Having had the opportunity to see the region from above in helicopter
and fixed wing aircraft I have been blown away by the stunning scenery much of which we
miss from ground level, from the jagged peaks, the green valleys and braided rivers, the fiords,
to the farms, stations and townships.
To capture the very best of the region I decided we needed an air safari, and sat down with
our air partner, Air Milford to design this unique itinerary. We know we have the best scenic
flights, but it goes beyond that as much of the experience is the destinations we visit and the
people we meet on the ground.
With Queenstown as our base star, each day (with one in reserve) we head in a different direction, with quite different scenery to a very different experience on the ground. And each
night you return to the same luxury hotel room, (no re-packing), with plenty of time to enjoy the
delights of Queenstown in autumn and some of the best food and wine on offer.

How our Five Stars Air Safari works
Like other air safaris we visit a different destination each day. Unlike other air safaris we don’t change hotels each night so our
itinerary is very relaxed. Instead, we base ourselves at the beautiful Rees Hotel in Queenstown and each day, none too early and
after a hearty breakfast, we go to Air Milford’s hangar straight on to our plane and head off for the flightseeing experience of the
day. With each landing we have a quite different experience for you so you get the best experience at each destination.
We will fly on four days with flexibility to swap the destinations around to make the most of the weather. The fifth full day is reserved for touring Queenstown and Arrowtown with some wine tasting of course! After flying we will generally be back in Queenstown early/mid-afternoon so there will also be plenty of free-time for relaxing or maybe shopping. On three of the six nights we
have group dinners, with wine of course!

Hank and Antony Sproull with
one of their Cessna Caravans
We’re flying with the best in the business, Air Milford, owned and operated by the Sproull family for over 20 years. They know the
region like the proverbial back of their hands and have the experience and importantly all the local contacts to offer us more than
just a flying experience. We’ll be flying in their state-of-the-art 10-13 seat Cessna Caravan aircraft. These aircraft offer us excellent viewing whilst enjoying quiet air-conditioned comfort and luxurious leather seats.
