Day 7: Friday 28 January 2022
Bay of Islands
We have the whole day set aside to explore and enjoy
the Bay of Islands. Opportunities include exploring
predator free Urupukapuka Island fringed by
Pohutukawa forest, where Project Island Song has
successfully released North Island Robin, Saddleback
and Whitehead, and the dramatic, unrestrained
beauty of Roberton Island which is also rich in New
Zealand history. Later in the day there is an
opportunity to explore historic Russell, a town of New
Zealand firsts including first seaport, European
settlement, capital and licensed hotel. Perhaps enjoy
a drink at the iconic The Duke of Marlborough and
brace yourself for one of Russell’s famed sunsets.

Day 9: Sunday 30 January 2022
Bay of Islands & Hokianga
This morning we are joined at the hotel by our guest
tour leader for our historical tour of the north. This
day tour will be an interesting exploration of the
historical battle and mission sites in the Bay and
across the island to the stunning Hokianga Harbour.
At Omapere we visit the new Manea - Footprints of
Kupe centre. Enroute home we travel through the
Puketi Kauri Forest.
Day 8: Saturday 29 January 2022
Bay of Islands
After breakfast and final ship farewells we head
ashore at Waitangi. We head to the Copthorne Hotel
where we are staying for two nights. We will gather
for a tour of the Treaty Grounds this afternoon then
later take the ferry across to Russell for a short
walking tour, and a climb up to the flagpole for the
energetic. This will be followed by sunset drinks and
dinner at the historic Duke of Marlborough Hotel. A
water taxi will later take us back across the bay to the
jetty at Waitangi.
Day 10: Monday 31 January 2022
Kerikeri to Auckland
This morning is free to explore the area or to visit the
galleries and gift shops nearby. We meet late morning
for a visit to Kerikeri for a spot of lunch before
heading to the airport and our 3:00pm flight.
