CAE CULTURE BOOK
Mental Health
Mental Health is about how we
think, feel and behave. It can
often be a reaction to a difficult
life event, but can also be
caused by work related issues.
One in four people in the UK will have
a mental health problem at some point
in their lifetime, with anxiety, stress and
depression being the most common.
First Aid for mental health is the initial
support provided to a person experiencing a
mental health problem. A 2017 government
commissioned report identified Core
Standards, designed to help employers
improve the mental health of their
workplace and enable individuals with
mental health conditions to thrive.
A Mental Health First Aider is a main point
of contact for anyone who is going through
some form of mental health problem. Being
there to listen non judgementally and have
supportive conversations, give reassurance
and encourage appropriate professional
support; whilst maintaining confidentiality
and providing an ongoing supportive
working environment.
As one of CAE’s appointed Mental Health
First Aiders you can reach out to me for a
chat via teams, the phone or in person when
in the office.
