An Update
on our Digital

and Solutions
Apprenticeship
Back in April we celebrated the one
year anniversary since the start
of our Apprenticeship, delivered in
partnership with QA and Cisco. The
entire team continue to impress on a
daily basis and as we move into year
two we have adapted our planned
approach and I am thankful for the
opportunity to share where we are.
Through their first year of
development the team got to
experience roles across CX, Service
Desk, NOC and internal IT, as well as
a small group being directly involved
in delivering a project for one of our
customers. Whilst our plan for year
two had started out with a view to
continue this “rotation” model across
a smaller set of departments, both
the apprentices and the managers
involved recognised that we were
potentially missing an opportunity,
both in terms of developing the
apprentices and their learning and
also the positive impact that they
could have on our customers.
This resulted in us proposing that we
end rotations and move the team into
dedicated roles where they could
become more actively involved in day
to day operations and become laser
focused on their development. We
of course agreed to regularly review
this to ensure that this continued to
be right for everyone involved.
“It has been a steep learning
curve, adapting to an entirely new
industry, but with a company so
full of incredibly knowledgeable
and welcoming people I have
really felt encouraged at every
step along the way.”
CAE CULTURE BOOK
We all engaged and made 12 roles
available to the apprentices across
the Technical services department.
Amazingly, everyone was able
to get a role in the area that they
felt most passionately about for
their development and ultimately
their careers. They’re all now fully
embedded within their teams and a
vital part of operations. Sam, Oyinda
and Cameron sit in the NOC and
Event Management Team. Chris,
Dimeji and Michael sit within Internal
IT and Aida and Madeline sit
within CX.
I am totally committed
that this type of scheme
is right for CAE and maps
directly to our culture of
development and I am
already excited about
reflecting on where the
apprentices are in 12
months’ time in the next
edition of the culture book.
Simon Moyes
“I look forward to really proving myself within
the Internal IT team. I have already found
that there is a very broad range of knowledge
on all different subjects in this team, I aim to
use this to allow me to better understand my
strengths, weaknesses and where I can make
the most impact.”
