Camden Council
Learn, Support and Partner to achieve the Green and Blue Grid
Vision
Council understands that we are likely to have a greater impact on improving the local area’s Green and Blue Grid, and achieving our Vision, by learning,
supporting and partnering with public agencies, developers, individual land owners and community stakeholders.
Support
Learn
• Ongoing knowledge sharing between
Council, local Aboriginal land managers
and the Camden community will help to
create a resilient and sustainable Green
and Blue Grid network.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
People are the traditional custodians of
Camden LGA’s land and possess a unique
knowledge and understanding of how to
care for Country.
Residents, business owners and local
community groups also have a critical role
to play, as they too hold local knowledge.
• Capacity building by supporting the community
to contribute to the maintenance, protection, and
enhancement of the local Green and Blue Grid on
land within their ownership.
• Raising awareness about the value of trees and their
social, economic and environmental benefits.
• Empowering the community by making it easy to
make changes for example accepting a tree from a
plant give-away and adopting a street tree outside
their home.
• Engaging the community through events and
programs for people to get actively involved in
caring for the natural environment.
Partner
• Collaborating with government and nongovernment agencies14 on project ideas and
opportunities can ensure Camden’s local
approaches are responsive and reflect bestpractice solutions and the latest research.
• Partnering with the community, State
agencies, landowners and developers to
share responsibility, pool resources and cofund project delivery can accelerate physical
changes to the natural environment.
• Guiding landowners, builders and developers to build
environmentally sustainable places through planning
controls.
