Shawna Boulette Grapentine
Cree-Ojibway
Shawna Boulette Grapentine is a Cree-Ojibway, born in the city of Winnipeg, Canada. She was raised in the small Metis community of
Manigotogan on the northeastern shores of Lake Winnipeg and is a member of the Hollow Water First Nation. Known for using fine detail
and vibrant colours in her paintings, Shawna learned at an early age that she had a great passion for painting, sketching, and creating
art. She is proud to have been part of the Frontier School Division, who provided her with a strong foundation for the arts. Moon & Back
Custom Arts has been in operation since 2010, producing more inspiring art pieces each year, gaining recognition across Canada and
the United States. The name originated from a children’s story book that Shawna shared with her son, relating to her unconditional
love for him.
SHawna Boulette Grapentine est une Cree-Ojibway, née à Winnipeg, au Canada. Elle a grandi dans la petite communauté métisse de
Manigotogan, sur la rive nord-est du lac Winnipeg, et est membre de la Première Nation de Hollow Water. Shawna s’est découvert très tôt
une grande passion pour la peinture, le dessin et la création artistique. Elle est fière d’avoir été formée à la Frontier School Division, qui lui
a procuré une solide base en art. Elle est réputée pour la finesse de ses détails et son usage des couleurs vives. Moon & Back Custom Arts
est en activité depuis 2010, produisant chaque année des œuvres d’art inspirantes et appréciées pour leur qualité à travers le Canada et
les États-Unis. Le nom de son entreprise vient d’un recueil d’histoires que Shawna lisait à son fils, traitant de l’amour inconditionnel d’une
mère pour son enfant.

Haida
Lloyd H. Harsch was born in Kamloops BC in 1972 and belongs to the Stastas (Eagle) Clan from Kiusta, now the Skidegate
Band. Influenced by renowned artist Charles Edenshaw; Lloyd has been working in the Haida style for over 30 years. His
artwork includes argillite carvings, drums, paintings, as well as, red and yellow cedar wood carvings. Most recently, Lloyd
graduated from the Native Education College’s Northwest Coast Jewelry Arts Program creating copper and silver jewelry.
Lloyd H. Harsch est né en 1972 à Kamloops, en Colombie-Britannique. Il fait partie du clan Stastas (Eagle) de Kiusta, devenu
le groupe Skidegate. Influencé par le célèbre artiste Charles Edenshaw; Lloyd travaille dans le style haïda depuis plus de 30
ans. Ses œuvres comprennent des sculptures en argilite, des tambours, des peintures ainsi que des sculptures en bois de cèdre
rouge et jaune. Plus récemment, Lloyd a obtenu son diplôme du programme d’arts joailliers de la côte nord-ouest du Native
Education College, où il crée des bijoux en cuivre et en argent.
Bill Helin
Tsimshian
Bill Helin’s proud native Indian heritage has played an important role in his growth as an artist. Helin is of the Tsimshian
Indian Nation, born and raised in the Northwest Coastal Community of Prince Rupert, B.C. For the most part, Helin’s artistry
is self-taught. He learned from books and picked up tips and encouragements from friends. One friend, Art Sterrit, sponsored
Bill at K’San, B.C.’s famous Indian Art and Carving School at Hazelton. Since then, Bill Helin has never looked back.
Le fier patrimoine autochtone de Bill Helin a joué un trés grand rôle dans sa vie d’artiste, Helin, membre de la nation Tsimshian,
est né et a passé sa jeunesse dans la communité côtiere du nordouest de Prince Rupert, C.-B. Helin a acquis la pluspart de
ses connaissances artistiques de lui-même. Il a appris de livres et de conseils et d’encouragements d’amis. Un de ses amis,
Art Sterrit, a aidé Bill à aller à K’San, l’école célébre d’art et de sculpture et gravure autochtone située à Hazelton. Depuis, Bill
n’a jamais regardé en arrière.
