Eric Parnell
Haida
A self-taught Haida artist born in Prince Rupert, BC in 1961, Eric is a member of the Masset Band. His crest is the Eagle and
his family clan is the Frog. While Eric has always been exposed to Haida art, he only started creating prints and paintings
on a regular basis in 2002. Eric cites Bill Reid and Robert Davidson as his primary influences, and most of his pieces reflect
classic Haida design. Eric’s goal as an artist is to “continue to be a small part of the revival and continuity of our peoples’
traditions.” Eric currently resides in Vancouver.
Éric, qui est membre de la bande Masset, est un artiste autodidacte haïda, né à Prince Rupert, Colombie Britannique en 1961.
Son sigle est un aigle et son clan familial est la grenouille. Éric a toujours été exposé à l’art haïda mais c’est seulement depuis
2002 qu’il crée ses œuvres sur une base régulière. Bill Reid et Robert Davidson ont été les influences primaires pour Éric et la
majorité de ses pièces reflètent un design haïda classique. Son objectif en tant qu’artiste est de « faire parti de la renaissance
et de continuer la tradition de son peuple ». Éric habite présentement à Vancouver.
Joshua Pawis-Steckley
Ojibway
Born in Barrie Ontario, Joshua is a member of the Wasauksing First Nation. He is a woodland artist who is dedicated to
restoring the arts and stories of the Ojibway. Joshua learned to draw by doodling in his school notebooks and drawing for fun
with his brother and mother. Most of his family is very creative, both his mother and Nokomis are talented quill box makers.
He was never formally trained in acrylic painting and started practicing his craft in his early 20s
Né à Barrie en Ontario, Joshua est un membre de la Première nation Wasauksing. C’est un artiste des régions boisées qui se
consacre à la restauration des arts et des histoires des Ojibways. Joshua a appris à dessiner en griffonnant dans ses cahiers
d’école et en dessinant pour le plaisir avec son frère et sa mère. La plupart des membres de sa famille sont très créatifs, sa
mère et Nokomis sont tous deux de talentueux fabricants de boîtes en piquants de porc-épic. Il n’a jamais été officiellement
formé à la peinture acrylique et a commencé à exercer son métier dès l’âge de 20 ans
Robin Paul

Mi’kmaq
Robin Paul is Mi’kmaq from Newfoundland, currently living in Welamukotuk First Nation, NB with her husband and children.
She is a multi-talented artisan and has been creating art for over 20 years. Her art recently received national and international
recognition when she designed a shirt for the Canadian staff of General Motors to wear on National Day for Truth and
Reconciliation and when she designed a hockey stick for the 2023 International Ice Hockey Federation World Juniors player of
the game awards.
Robin Paul est une Mi’kmaq de Terre-Neuve et vit actuellement dans la Première Nation Welamukotuk, au Nouveau-Brunswick,
avec son mari et ses enfants. Elle est une artisane aux multiples talents et crée de l’art depuis plus de 20 ans. Son art a
récemment reçu une reconnaissance nationale et internationale lorsqu’elle a conçu une chemise que le personnel canadien de
General Motors devait porter lors de la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation et lorsqu’elle a conçu un bâton de
hockey pour les prix du joueur du match du Championnat mondial junior 2023 de la Fédération internationale de hockey sur
glace.
