Ronnie Simon
Gwich’in
Ronnie is a self-taught wildlife artist who started painting at a young age. Growing up in Fort McPherson, NT Ronnie’s inspiration
comes from the land. His passion for wildlife and nature really prevails in his work. For Ronnie the portrayal of wildlife and birds in
their natural habitat is his preference. Using acrylic paints as his medium, he portrays the natural beauty and serenity of nature

Ronnie est artiste animalier autodidacte qui a commencé à peindre à un très jeune âge. Ayant grandi au Fort McPherson, son
inspiration lui vient de la terre. Sa passion pour la faune et la nature prédomine réellement son travail. Pour Ronnie, le portrait
de la faune et des oiseaux dans leur habitat naturel sont sa préférence.
Charles Silverfox
Tlingit
Charles Silverfox was born in Whitehorse, Yukon. He is of Tlingit, Northern Tutchone and Irish ancestry. Charles has lived and
worked in British Columbia since 1980. He primarily works in pen and ink creating images using hundreds and hundreds of
little dots by hand – this art form is known as pointillism. Charles received his introduction to this form of art from his older
brother, Mark Preston, (Tenna tsa the) a well known Yukon artist and jeweler. Charles says that his art is a reflection of his
traditional values and his high esteem for all living things in the natural world.
Charles Silverfox est né à Whitehorse, au Yukon. Il est Tlingit, Tutchones du Nord et de descendance irlandaise. Charles vit
et travaille en Colombie-Britannique depuis 1980. Il travaille principalement à la plume et à l’encre créant des images en
utilisant des centaines et des centaines de petits points à la main – cette forme d’art est connue comme le pointillisme.
Charles a reçu son introduction à cette forme d’art de son frère aîné, Mark Preston, (Tenna tsa the) un artiste et bijoutier bien
connu au Yukon. Charles dit que son art est le reflet de ses valeurs traditionnelles et sa haute estime pour tous les êtres vivants
dans le monde naturel.
Jessica Somers

Odanak Abenaki
Jessica Somers was born in Sudbury, Ontario and is currently residing in Lavigne, Ontario. She is Odanak Abenaki and her
grandmother is also Metis. Jessica loves creating paintings that represent knowledge of the natural world, that we learn and
share through generations. Jessica is captivated by the teachings of elders in her community and her Nation. She creates
art that connect to these teachings. Jessica uses her artwork as self-reflection, a way of seeking peace, sharing knowledge,
teaching moral lessons, and/or telling stories. Jessica believes that art has been survivance, a way of holding on to stories
and history, embodying a way of life, and expressing and sharing Indigenous identities.
Jessica Somers est née à Sudbury, Ontario et réside actuellement à Lavigne, Ontario. Elle est Abénaquise d’Odanak et sa
grand-mère est également Métisse. Jessica aime créer des tableaux qui représentent la connaissance du monde naturel qui
est apprise et partagée de génération en génération. Captivée par les enseignements des aînés de sa communauté et de sa
nation, Jessica crée des œuvres d’art qui s’y rattachent. Elle honore ainsi ses ancêtres tout en veillant à la transmission de
leurs savoirs. Ses œuvres d’art lui servent à l’autoréflexion et lui servent à rechercher la paix, partager des connaissances,
enseigner des leçons de morale et à raconter des histoires. Jessica est convaincue que l’art est une survivance, un moyen de
préserver les histoires et l’histoire, d’incarner un mode de vie et d’exprimer et de partager les identités autochtones.
