SUPER WOMEN IN SUPPLY CHAIN
Women have
the Incredible Ability
to Redefine Norms
ADITI KUMAR
Head of Corporate Affairs,
TVS Industrial and Logistics Parks (TVS ILP)
Introduction to the
Supply Chain Industry
From a young age, my father,
a seasoned professional in the
supply chain industry, introduced
me to the sector. Witnessing its
inherent challenges and opportunities as I grew up, I became
captivated by its complexities.
Over time, my interest matured
into a profound passion, spurring my career path towards
contributing to the industry’s
growth and evolution.
Driving Growth
I bring dynamism, strategic
thinking, and customer-centricity
to the forefront. With a background in law and accounting,
I approach challenges with
a disciplined and analytical
mind-set. I play a pivotal role in
driving the company’s growth,
ensuring alignment between
legal, 昀椀nancial, and operational
aspects with our commercial
objectives. As a leader, I foster
collaboration and emphasise
teamwork to achieve our goals
in complex environments.
Finding s Sense of
Fulfilment
Balancing a successful career
with motherhood has been a
cherished aspect of my life. E昀昀ective time management, resilience,
and strong support from both
professional and personal circles
have made this balance possible. Being a working mother
has enriched my life, o昀昀ering a
unique perspective that drives
my passion and determination in
both realms. It’s not a sacri昀椀ce;
rather, it’s a harmonious blend
that enhances both my professional and personal ful昀椀lment.
Synergy of Motherhood
and Leadership
Motherhood enhances multitasking, organisation, time management, patience, and resilience
skills. It also improves endurance
and ability to work efficiently
under pressure.
Biggest Inspirations
I greatly admire successful leaders, particularly women like Indra
Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo,
and Michelle Obama, former First
Lady of the United States. Nooyi’s
strategic vision and transformative leadership in the corporate
world resonate with me, while I
also value leaders committed to
diversity, innovation, and ethics. E昀昀ective leaders empower
their teams, foster collaboration,
and adapt to industry dynamics. Learning from such leaders,
including Michelle Obama, shapes
my leadership approach at TVS
Industrial and Logistics Parks.
Lessons from Implementing
Transformations
As part of the senior management
team at TVS ILP, my journey
was significantly shaped during a phase of process changes.
Despite established capabilities,
rapid growth over three years
necessitated a shift. The successful implementation earned
accolades, emphasising the power
of a process-driven organisation.
This experience in昀氀uenced my
leadership style, highlighting
collaboration, strategic planning,
Skills are the currency in today’s dynamic
business landscape, offering women a
chance to redefine norms and showcase
their unique capabilities. The slow change in
boardroom diversity underscores the need for
women’s distinct viewpoints and skill sets.
Women possess strengths like multitasking,
emotional intelligence, and resilience, which
should be harnessed. Creating a culture of
mentorship and mutual encouragement is
vital for breaking glass ceilings and ensuring
women lead the conversation, not just
participate in it.
and adaptability for sustained
success.
Valuable Advice
The best advice I’ve received is to
embrace change as an opportunity for growth. In the logistics
and warehousing industry,
adapting to change is essential
for innovation and success. This
advice has guided my approach,
encouraging me to view challenges as stepping stones, fostering a mindset open to learning
and continuous improvement.
