But wherever you live, please take the time to
know what’s happening with your local
government. Take the time to know the
candidates who are running for oce and what
they stand for. Resist simply going with party
labels when voting for local candidates. I’ve
seen decisions on both sides of the aisle at the
local level that defy the values of typical party
labels, and I’ve seen ocials from both parties
lead with integrity, putting the public good first.
A party aliation is insucient to evaluate what
kind of leader someone is.
There is so much focus on Washington, DC
these days. But if we aren’t paying attention to
and addressing problems in our community, is
it reasonable to expect we can change DC?
When special interests are gaming the system
right under our noses in our city and county
elections, we have clean up our own
backyards. Transformation begins at home.
