“Soul Change Equals
Societal Change!”
The prayer as we gathered for the Justice Summit in
November 2022 was the same as when we scattered
afterwards—that it would lead to meaningful action for
our churches and our neighbourhoods.
Rev. Dr. Lennett Anderson’s keynote messages served
to stir and challenge us, and the breakout sessions
offered information, round table discussions, and
important learnings on several relevant justice-related
issues.
Since the summit, we have heard how some churches
who sent teams of delegates began (or continued)
justice-oriented conversations and work in their own
contexts—a key outcome we have been praying for! In
the future we hope to share stories of these local
discussions and meaningful action happening in our
neighbourhoods.
The Justice Summit also served as a catalyst for a new
learning partnership with Rev. Jodi Spargur, Director of
Red Clover (an organization also affiliated with CBM).
Beginning this spring, we started The Good Way
Journey, a new initiative that works with Jodi and is
designed to help teams from our churches continue to
walk in a good way with Indigenous neighbours,
engaging in their own context and coming together for
an intensive-style retreat later this year.
It was also important for us to come away from the
event with tools and resources that can keep the
momentum forward. Thanks to our media team, we
captured the keynote talks and two workshops from
the summit, and you can download them now via our
website! This is a great opportunity for your church to
bring a team together and take the time to watch the
two keynote messages from Rev. Dr. Anderson and
two of the workshops (on Affordable Housing and
Indigenous Relations).
