Cecil College and Heating and Air
Conditioning Contractors of Maryland
offer a Maryland state-approved four-year
HVAC/R Apprenticeship program. Upon
successful completion of this four-year
program, students will be able to earn
their HVAC/R journey-person license
from the Maryland Department of Labor
without taking the exam.
COMING SOON! Solar Technician Program
This new program will prepare individuals for careers in the rapidly advancing solar energy sector.
Culminating in a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners credential (NABCEP
Photovoltaic Associate™), participants will acquire the essential skills to install, maintain, and repair
solar energy systems, addressing the growing demand for renewable energy solutions.

BASIC ELECTRICAL
Basic Electrical Part I
This course is an introductory program
covering the basics of residential wiring and
the National Electric Code and the basics of
electrical theory, tools, and systems. Learn to
design and install modern and safe residential
wiring systems that meet the electrical power
demands of today’s world. Upon program
completion, students can earn their OSHA 10
and NOCTI Electrical Occupations credential.

Basic Electrical Part II
This course is the second of two parts in the
Basic Electrical program designed to prepare
student to gain knowledge and understanding
of basic electrical theory and installation using
the National Electric Code. Upon program
completion, students can earn their OSHA 10

HVAC/R Apprenticeship – Year One
The first year of the HVAC/R Apprenticeship
program combines both classroom instruction
and on-the-job training.
HVAC/R Apprenticeship – Year Two
Year Two topics include: fundamentals of
brazing and soldering, electric motors,
wiring and testing, HVAC controls,
advanced refrigeration and pipe fitting, and
communication skills. Note: Student must
have already taken Year One of the program
or tested out of Year One if they have prior
experience or education in the HVAC/R field.
PROGRAM BEGINS IN SEPTEMBER
Applications for the 2025-2026 school year
open on May 1, 2025.

utilities and energy industry with this handson program. Students will gain valuable
insight on what it’s like to work in the utilities
field. The program features Basic Electrical
training, OSHA10, career coaching, work
experience opportunities, and insights from
industry professionals. This program offers
a flexible combination of in-person and
mentored online learning.

Complete an application through the
Heating and Air Conditioning
Contractors of Maryland at haccmd.org.
Classes are held at Cecil County School
of Technology.
Students must also provide the following:
• Copy of the applicant’s Maryland State
HVAC/R license
• Doctor’s letter showing the applicant
is physically able to work in the HVAC/R
industry
• Copy of applicant’s high school diploma
or transcript of last grade completed
• Copy of applicant’s Driver’s License
• Written recommendation letters from
three (3) acquaintances
• State Apprentice Agreement
