HOUSING GUIDE
Every demographic experiences challenges
and needs social engagement support.
The aging LGBT community is particularly
vulnerable in:
CFA LGBT’s
Social
Engagement
Program
Isolation: loss of family and friends who
passed away, lost touch, or overwhelmed
by their own circumstances
Fear: facing hardships with regard to
being “out” and/or losing medical or
housing benefits – due to sexuality,
gender identity, or gender presentation
Uncertainty: concerns about reaching out
for help and being perceived as “needy”
or facing the unknown of meeting new
people
The Social Engagement Committee facilitates social support,
connection to resources, and access to area programs in North
Texas to everyone in the LGBT community over age 55. The reason
we do this is to foster a high quality of life and an ongoing vibrant
experience of living through later decades of life. This allows our
members to continue learning, growing, and celebrating themselves
and each other through strengthening social networks.
See page 49 for Activities
Our entire focus is you. We spend our time building alliances,
developing fresh, relevant content, and planning and executing
events that will ignite your imagination and help you remember how
wonderful it is to connect with others in your community.
