HIGHLIGHTS
GAMES, INTERACTIVE
MEDIA AND MOBILE
TECHNOLOGY (GIMM)
Top 20 major at Boise State with 257 unique students
enrolled this year.
Opened the new state-of-the-art Apple computer
laboratory.
Launched a new community/industry partnership with
the Effecting Positive Social Change program through
sponsorship from the Old Coot and Maggie Foundation.
Our graduates use their skills in
immersive “game” technologies to
solve complex challenges in industry,
education, and the community.
Addressed Campus Student Food Insecurity issue with
mobile app Bronco Beam.
Created first Virtual Reality tour of Boise Airport for
children on the Autism Spectrum.
Created Virtual Reality tours of Idaho landscape for
people undergoing cancer treatment & dialysis.
Created Virtual Reality training for field dressing an elk,
used in Idaho Hunter’s Safety classes.
Using a unique apprenticeship and experiential
training model, our GIMM major builds skills in
hardware, software, and human interaction in
alternative reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)
across a suite of technology platforms to create
transformative training and engagement
experiences. The success of the GIMM program is
built on strong community partnerships that inform
curriculum and bridge graduates to the workplace.
