Welcome to The Concordia Way
T
he Concordia community
is your community, and
we dedicate this issue
to you and to the hundreds of
people who have come before
us with a compelling vision for
health and wellbeing.
In this issue we tell our stories.
Stories about real people with
real experiences and real emotions. Some of our contributors
have come through a journey of
grief to set up legacy and memorial funds. Gail Bousquet talks
about caring for her mother
throughout her final days and
how the Comfort Care program
gave her family dignity and care.
Laura Reimer shares the story
of her knee replacement surgery
and how healing led her to help others by founding a support group
for people who are on the same journey.
Others have shared their stories and insights with us during
our time with CJNU Nostalgia Radio, and you can listen to them
online. We encourage you to visit our website and listen to the
stories, and to the reflections of many more people who have been
touched by Concordia. Some are giving back by volunteering; others
have made caring their life work: a living mission statement that
we witness every day.
We want to thank everyone who worked together to make this
issue possible and for sharing their journey with us. Thank you all
for your trust and your authenticity.
In this issue, as we celebrate
nine decades of care at Concordia, we salute the people who
founded Concordia and shaped
it into what it is today.
Over the past 90 years, Concordia has adapted to the needs
of our community, and will
continue to do so. Service and
healing are at the heart of what
we do, and will continue to be.
That is our commitment to you.
Celebrate with us as we reflect
on our 90th anniversary year
in 2018. There are several great
events that we invite you to be
part of.
At the Concordia Foundation,
our role is to support Concordia
and the community we serve. We
promote health and support high standards for health services,
research, and educational activities. We raise funds for programs
and projects designed to enhance the care, services, and environment provided at Concordia. And we thank those who have been
part of this journey and made it all possible, so we can be here
when you need us.
We thrive because of a firm tradition in our community of supporting healthcare through private donations. You are a key player
in the future and quality of healthcare for our region. A commitment to your community has a way of inspiring those around you
to build on the contributions of others, to the benefit of all.
