TIME FOR
TAKING STOCK
Welcome to the December issue of INTHEBLACK.
Around the globe, vaccination levels are rising. Many economies
and businesses have reopened while learning to live with COVID-19,
however different this may look to the past.
For our part, CPA Australia is encouraging its staff to get vaccinated.
We think it will take a combined effort from everyone to overcome the
challenge of COVID-19. We’re proud to champion this call to action to
protect our team’s health and enable our communities to reopen.
For large parts of this year, more than half of our membership has
been affected by lockdowns. While weathering some tough times,
we’ve applied the lessons from last year and continued delivering
our strategy objectives despite substantial challenges.
The CPA Australia Board recognises members’ continued efforts
to support businesses, economies, clients and others, plus the
diverse communities in which you live and work, to manage the
impacts of the pandemic.
One of the ways we have sought to support you with this
important task is through our engagement with governments
to shape and understand business supports. This has resulted
in a significant body of resources that are available in the
COVID-19 support hub on our updated website.
We’ve changed the way we do other things too, to ensure we
continue to deliver great services to you. Sixty-five per cent of our
25,000 Semester 2 CPA Program candidates completed their exams
online. We rose to the challenge of supporting all ASAs during this
crucial time, for which I thank our management and employees and,
of course, these ASAs themselves.
Our second CPA Virtual Congress surpassed 10,000 delegate
registrations. Its theme was “Leadershift”, which explored the
necessary shift in thinking and leadership in all organisations and
economies to aid a sustainable, successful recovery from this
historic era.
We added micro-credentials courses to fast-track members’
learning in sought-after skills for our evolving industry. These can
be completed at your own pace, anywhere and anytime.
These are just a few examples of the work we’ve done on your
behalf throughout the year. We are now starting the process of
collaboratively creating the next CPA Australia strategy. This will
act as a blueprint to enable us to continue representing and leading
members through our future work. As with our current strategy, the
new strategy will have members at its heart.
We have much to look forward to in 2022. On behalf of the
Board, I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season.
