Global consumer demand for ethically
sourced goods has increased during the
COVID-19 pandemic, with 88 per cent
of consumers prioritising companies
with ethical sourcing strategies in
place. That’s an increase of 10 per cent
since the pandemic swept the globe at
the start of 2020. The finding comes
from the ethical supply chain research,
commissioned by software company
OpenText.
The research includes a survey of
27,000 global consumers. In Australia,
81 per cent would be willing to
compromise convenience (such as
delivery time) for a product if it had
been ethically sourced or produced.
In Singapore, 75 per cent agree that
businesses have a responsibility to
ensure their suppliers abide by an
ethical code of conduct. Meanwhile,
93 per cent of consumers in India say
that products being ethically sourced
or produced are important to them.
